Renewing Driver's License at SM North Edsa (Updated)

My friend renewed her driver's license at SM North Edsa and this time without the drug test.  I renewed mine last March and posted the steps last April (click here) but this was before the drug test was taken out of the process.  It took her less than an hour to renew her license probably because she went there early.

Here's the updated steps in renewing driver's license at SM North Edsa LTO Satellite Office:

1.  Present old license at Window 2 and get a form from the Medical table.
2.  Submit the form Pay the Medical fee (PhP 100). A staff will give you a number and the receipt for the Medical Fee
3.  While waiting for your number to be called, fill out the form Medical Certificate for Driver's License
4.  Your number will be called for your medical test: vision and hearing acuity
5.  While waiting for your name to be called, fill out Driver's License Application form
6.  You will be called for your electronic signature and for picture taking/capturing (Window 1).
7.  You will be called again for payment of driver's license fee (Cashier)
8.   At this point you will wait again for the release of your Driver's License and Official Receipt.

Some things to take note of (some are taken from my previous article entitled "8 Steps in Renewing your Driver's License at SM North Edsa")
* Medical exam part - The personnel will check on your weight; have you look at a monitor, with some distance, and read some letter or numbers interchangeably covering your left eye or right eye and ask you a few questions.
*  Bring your own pen.
*  Wear something with collar and make yourself presentable.
*  Priority is given to Senior Citizens, PWDs
*  If SM North Edsa Satellite Office is offline, go to another LTO Renewal Center especially if your license is near expiry to prevent penalties or re-applying and re-doing all the tests...

Please see latest update in Comments Section by Mr. Rey Nocum.  Thank Sir.
Will re-post/update this next year when I renew again my license.

    4. I'm not sure the exact amount. But here is an approximate breakdown:
Medical Fee = 100; License Fee = 350; Late Penalty = 75 per year (max 2 years); Computer Fee = 67.63. Note: Prices are subject to change. Thanks.

    6. hi, it depends on the volume of people getting their driver's license. It varies on a lot of things. You should reserve half a day at most in getting your license. Thanks.

    7. Procedure as of January 2015:
      1. Present your old card at Window 2 and secure a form. Before 9AM, you can get the form from the Medical table.
      2. Submit your old card at the Medical table and secure a blank medical certificate on a clipboard.
      3. Fill-up the two forms and show the filled up forms to the Medical table.
      4. When your name is called at the Medical table, pay 200.00 and get your receipt with your old card and your queuing number.
      5. If there is no queue for Medical, you proceed to the medical room. If there are less than 5, you sit on the bench outside the medical room. Otherwise, you wait for your number to be called before you sit on the bench.
      6. After medical, submit your papers with old card at window 2, then wait for your name to be called.
      7. When your name is called, proceed to window 1 for signature and picture taking, then wait again for your name to be called.
      8. You will be asked to proceed to window 5, the cashier for payment, then wait again for your name to be called.
      9. You will be asked to proceed to window 3, for releasing. As of January 2015, the backlog for card printing is 60 days, so you will be asked to come back for your card. (They say cards are out of stock but you can see that them printing cards at window 1).

    1. You're more than two years expired so you're up for a reexam. You can go to any LTO offices that handles the examination. SM North only do renewals less than two years of expiration.

    1. None that I know of. To be sure, bring another government issued ID.

    2. They require that you bring your own ballpen. :)
In all my license renewals they used to require the old receipt. They only asked for the card this time.

  8. Hi... pde po ba sa sm north lto magrenew ng student permit?

    1. SM North Edsa LTO Satellite Office process only driver's licenses (not sure about Conductor license)... technically since you are a student, you don't have any license yet to drive alone. You have to undergo driving tests, etc. Go to the nearest LTO district or regional office.

  9. Hi, can you get duplicates here for lost licenses? Thanks.

    1. I'm not sure. Better go to the nearest LTO district office, not the satellite office.

    1. I think not because you need to establish or do some test to let them approve your restriction... if it's a downgrade, pwede yata.

    1. It is on the Ground Floor of SM North Edsa Northlink Building. Ask the security for the exact location. Thanks.

      Delete
    2. The Northlink Bldg is located near the west end of the car park, where the car park entrance is. It is behind IMAX or SM Supermarket but very far from Hypermarket/The Block. If you know the Grass Towers (Condo), it is on that side of the mall but just behind the main building of SM North.

    1. Kung downgrade, I think yes. But if you're going to upgrade your status, some tests might be needed so you need to go to LTO which has the testing centers. Thanks.

  22. Good evening po sir. Ask ko lang po if pwede ipa-claim yung driver's license na card since nung last renewal ko po ndi available un card. Ano po ba need nung papakuhanan ko ng drver's license na card? Thank you po.

    1. You may need to give your representative your official receipt, an ID and authorization letter. The representative should also need to bring his/her ID. Please note that I'm not fully sure if that's all they would require. Thanks.

  23. Hello. Ask ko lang po if in case ipapaclaim sa iba ung driver's license na card ano po ba need ko ipadala sa mag cclaim? Nung nag renew po kasi ako ndi dw available yung card pero natapos ko na po yung procedure. Thank you po.

    1. I suggest po you go claim your license card yourself so that you or your representative wouldn't go back and forth pa if in case you need to present something.

  24. Good Afternoon.Ask ko lang po kung pwede kong irenew yun student license ko to professional sa sm north edsa?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The term is not "renew" but "change" to professional driver's license... So the answer is No. Bear in mind that you have to undergo driving skills testing and knowledge testing for you to become a Pro and SM North Edsa LTO office doesn't have that.

      Delete
    2. Hi Cris, so di pala pwede non pro to pro sa North? Mas mahaba ba procedure ng non pro to pro? thanks

      Delete
    3. I would assume po na di pwede non pro to pro here because you have to demonstrate that you can drive professionally, (i.e drive truck or bus). They don't have that facility in SM LTO satellite office.

    1. Right now looks like di po agad makukuha yung license card dahil sa shortage ng supply ng cards, they might give you a temporary one. Location: SM North Edsa located at the G/F Northlink Building.

  29. Cris - good morning. Please help me out. ALL LTO trunklines on the website are NOT available.

I am helping my nephew apply for his driver's license. He has passed all exams in a driving school which gave him a student's license. He lost the student's license in July when they transferred house but he has the official receipt. ANo po ang next steps?

He said a classmate told him to go to SM north to renew his student's license before getting a non-prof. Ganon po ba? I am assisting him to help his licence fees since he has no job. SOmeone told him pag nag fixer P2000 daw ang kalakaran. That is terrible.I will not succumb to this corrupt practice. I served government for ten years as a devoted and honest civil servant.

Your advice please. My nephew and I will go SM north tom to work on this. Galing pa kami sa NOvaliches so I do not want to waste time and energy if we were to be told that SM NOrth is not the proper office.

    Thanks!

    Replies
    1. I suggest po you go straight to LTO, not the satellite office. Bring the receipt and explain the situation of your nephew. They will either ask him to apply for a student's license again or he can go straight to doing the exam so he can be a non-pro license holder.

  30. I lost my Non Pro Driver's License just now and I am wondering if I can go to SM North with an affidavit of loss and apply for a duplicate license there. Is that possible?

    Replies
    1. Even if it's possible, I suggest that you go to the main branches. Service in SM is recently limited, even printing of license cards.

    1. You have to present your old license and pay penalty for late renewal. Almost same process as above. New LTO SM North Satellite office is located at SM Annex.
